Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has announced the launch of the online sports betting operator Betway in Portugal. This marks Betway as GiG’s second B2B partner in the country. Portugal has seen a significant increase in revenues in 2022, making it an attractive market for big casino operators.
The launch of Betway is the first operator partner for GiG under the leadership of former DraftKings and SBTech executives, Andrew Cochrane and Richard Carter, who now serve as GiG’s CBO and CEO, respectively. Their expertise is expected to contribute to commercial growth for GiG.
GiG’s expansion of tier 1 partners in regulated jurisdictions will enhance its European presence. Portugal, specifically, offers a robust regulatory online gaming framework and a resolute taxation structure, making innovative solutions like GiG’s highly sought after.
GiG’s products focus on driving player acquisition and retention, providing its operator partners with opportunities to increase profitability. The company was awarded EGR’s Full Service Platform and Multi-Channel Supplier awards in 2023.
Andrew Cochrane, GiG’s chief business officer, expressed his pride in the close partnership developed with Betway and their successful product for the Portuguese regulated market. He emphasized GiG’s continued investment in product and technology capabilities to support further Tier 1 client wins.
Betway’s CEO, Anthony Werkman, thanked GiG for supporting its ambitious growth strategy in Portugal, noting that the partnership will benefit both companies’ expansion in the market.
In addition to the Betway launch, GiG recently completed its acquisition of KaFe Rocks, positioning itself to become a leading casino affiliate company.
