The Star Entertainment Group, a prominent gambling and entertainment company in Australia, has made a significant senior-level appointment. Daniel Finch, a former executive at Expedia Australia, has been selected as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the company. Finch will be responsible for overseeing the company’s operations in Brisbane.
Although The Star has confirmed the appointment, it is subject to regulatory approvals. The company expects Finch to assume his role around mid-February. In his new position, Finch will play a crucial role in The Star’s Brisbane operations, utilizing his extensive experience in the hospitality and travel sector. He will report to Robbie Cooke, The Star’s managing director and group CEO.
With more than two decades of experience in the entertainment and leisure industries, Finch has held senior-level roles in various global markets, including New Zealand, Australia, Asia, and the UK.
Expressing his excitement about the new role, Finch emphasized the significance of The Star Brisbane, scheduled to open this year. He emphasized the importance of driving tourism and delivering world-class experiences for both locals and international visitors. Finch also highlighted the commitment to providing exceptional experiences for guests on an ongoing basis.
In his previous role, Finch served as the managing director at Expedia Australia for nine years before joining The Star. Robbie Cooke, The Star’s managing director and group CEO, expressed his excitement about the addition of Finch to the company’s leadership team, noting that it follows the promotion of Jess Mellor to CEO of Gold Coast. Cooke also mentioned the ongoing search for a Sydney CEO and stated that Finch’s experience and knowledge made him the perfect fit for the new role.
