FanDuel, a prominent online gambling company in North America, has announced a generous donation of $1 million to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). This donation is aimed at aiding under-represented students and supporting the organization’s efforts to create a strong educational pathway for these individuals.
The UNCF is recognized as the largest and most effective minority education organization in the country, dedicated to helping students from under-represented communities achieve success as college graduates. With the support from FanDuel’s donation, the UNCF will provide financial assistance to students at 10 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Ohio.
Remarkably, this is the third time FanDuel has made a significant donation to the UNCF in the past three years. Previously, the company had contributed to the UNCF’s initiatives in Virginia and Maryland.
The funds from FanDuel will directly assist students with various expenses such as technology, housing, food security, tuition, and other education-related costs. Additionally, FanDuel will collaborate with the UNCF to recruit students from these schools to participate in its internship program.
FanDuel’s decision to support the UNCF’s efforts in Ohio coincides with the one-year anniversary of the launch of mobile sports betting in the state. The donation will benefit colleges such as Case Western University, Central State University, Franklin University, and others in Ohio.
Maurice E. Jenkins, UNCF’s Executive Vice President and Chief Fundraising Officer, expressed gratitude for FanDuel’s continuous support. He emphasized the significance of financial and academic support in making a real difference for HBCUs and their students. Similarly, FanDuel’s President, Christian Genetski, voiced the company’s commitment to making a positive impact in the communities it operates in.
In addition to its philanthropic efforts, FanDuel also recently launched a campaign featuring NFL star Rob Gronkowski.
