GOP Nominee Takes Home $757,577 Lottery Prize in North Carolina

Josh McConkey, a political candidate from North Carolina, hit the jackpot in the Cash 5 lottery after using his children’s birthdays as the winning numbers. McConkey, a doctor and US Air Force Reserve Colonel running for a Republican seat in Congress, was “in shock” to win $1.5 million.

Another lucky lottery player in North Carolina also matched all the numbers, resulting in both winners taking home $757,577 each. The draw took place on February 1.

McConkey expressed his excitement about the win, stating, “This is quite a day. I am still really in shock. It’s pretty wild.” He revealed that he typically uses his children’s birthdays and his anniversary as his lottery numbers and plans to use some of the winnings to support his congressional campaign. He believes the money will help him run a stronger campaign and benefit the entire state.

Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina, allowing players to purchase tickets at retail locations or online. McConkey’s winning ticket was bought online, resulting in his hefty prize. Players can also buy tickets through the NC Lottery Official Mobile App or the lottery’s official website.

Part of the lottery’s proceeds go towards supporting education programs in North Carolina, benefiting communities throughout the state. Those interested in learning more about the NC Education Lottery’s initiatives can visit the official website for more information.
