The Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ) at ICE 2024 demonstrated a strong commitment to responsible gambling by raising £41,100 ($51,800) for two charities: the International Centre for Responsible Gambling (ICRG) and Betblocker. This generous contribution brings the CPZ’s total raised funds to over £225,000 ($283,600) over the last four years.
During a donation ceremony at CPZ, the ICRG and Betblocker each received a cheque for £20,500 ($25,850) from seven contributing donors, including industry-leading companies such as Light and Wonder, Flutter, Betsson Group, IGT, Novomatic, Neccton, and Playtech. This effort spotlighted their dedication to fostering a safe and sustainable gaming market while offsetting some of gambling’s negative societal impacts.
Arthur Paikowsky, president of ICRG, expressed gratitude for the generous contributions, emphasizing the importance of the funds in advancing the organization’s ongoing gambling-related studies. He also accepted an award on behalf of ICRG as Clarion Gaming’s Charity of the Year, recognizing the organization’s impactful work in the industry.
Betblocker founder and trustee Duncan Garvie echoed Paikowsky’s sentiment, expressing surprise and gratitude for being considered for the donation. He emphasized the significance of the funds in aiding the development of the charity’s upcoming timer feature and expanding its reach.
