Kindred Group, a prominent online gambling operator, has announced the permanent appointment of Nils Andén as the company’s chief executive officer. Andén had been serving as the interim CEO for almost a year, following the departure of Henrik Tjärnström from the company in May 2023. Andén is a long-time Kindred executive, having previously held senior-level roles in the company from 2006 to 2016, including head of poker and head of established markets. He also served as the chief marketing officer for Kindred’s flagship Unibet brand before temporarily leaving the company in 2016. Andén rejoined Kindred in 2020 as the chief commercial officer for Scandinavia, East and South Europe, and North America.
Evert Carlsson, Kindred Group’s chairman, expressed his satisfaction with Andén’s appointment, stating that the board is “very pleased” that Andén is willing to take on the CEO role. He commended Andén’s leadership during his time as interim chief executive and praised his extensive knowledge of Kindred and the iGaming industry as a whole.
Andén also expressed his gratitude for the board’s trust in him, stating that he is proud to continue in the role as CEO of Kindred Group and is eager to execute the company’s ambitious business plans. He emphasized the importance of the team’s hard work in delivering an exciting strategy to strengthen Kindred’s position in locally regulated markets.
In addition to the CEO announcement, Kindred shared an update on its Journey towards Zero initiative, which aims to minimize revenues derived from harmful gambling. The update revealed that only 3.1% of the company’s revenue came from problem gambling, demonstrating the effectiveness of the campaign.
As Kindred Group moves forward with Andén as its permanent CEO, the company is focused on continuing its success in the online gambling industry while prioritizing responsible and ethical business practices.
